While You Were Sleeping…

While You Were Sleeping…

24 August 2015

On Saturday night, as many of you were sleeping…or (responsibly) Saturday nighting…there were a few members of Newton Nation who were taking care of business at 14,000 feet.

This is Leadville:

The air is rare up here

Just a quick 50 mile jaunt to Winfield, turn around, run back. In one day. As fast as possible. No prob.

Newton’s Accountant Monica made it 76 of the 100 miles last year before her lungs broke (medical term). Her 2014 DNF fueled her fire for the last 365 days, and on Sunday morning, she finished her first 100 miler.

Success is 90% determination, 20% proper hydration, 10% abs. Don't question the math, she is an accountant.

What started as a bet in a bar three years ago between Newton’s VP Stephen Gartside, and Newton’s Director of Sales Tom Curran, came to fruition last Sunday when Tom finished the Leadman series. In two months, Tom did a trail marathon, 50 mile Mountain Bike, 50 mile run, 100 mile MTB, 100 mile run.

This is Tom. Smiling all the way to the bank.

Newton’s Event Manager Don Reichelt and Todd Grant also completed Leadman this summer

Hard to say who is having more fun...

Hard to say who is having more fun…

Newton Team Elite Runner Kara Henry and Newtonite Sabina Parigian demolished the course, turning mountains into molehills. Kara was second overall and finished under 20 hours, and Sabina placed fourth in her first 100 miler.

Don't let their sweet faces fool you, these ladies were ready for action

All smiles and Kismets on their way to the start line

The rest of the best and the best of the rest:

Newton’s Director of HR, Ashley, PRed at the Santa Rosa Marathon

Ashley and Brian (he also PRed and is headed to Boston!)

Ashley and Brian (he also PRed and is headed to Boston!) Unrelated, but they could probably eat dinner off of those medals.

Newton employee James Capparell was the overall winner at Challenge Poconos

Georgia Ambassador Sara Maltby won the Armadillo Broil 25k

Does the race name concern anyone else?!

And the Boulder based Newton employees upheld the annual tradition of running in the Pearl Street Mile (which is basically like running the Leadville 100).

Only 99 miles to go!
