At Newton, 2023 was full of milestones, innovations and sweet colorways. Before we launch ourselves into 2024, we wanted to take a minute to countdown our highlights from the year.
1) We launched the NEW Isaac, Newton's first max cushion trainer. With a full length Pebax plate and new lug configuration, the Isaac quickly became a fan favorite. As Runner's World Magazine said in the November issue, "It's a quick, springy flick that is lively and energetic."
2) Harvey Lewis ran 4.2 miles every hour for...108 consecutive hours. That is more than 4 days of continuous running. Harvey ran 450 miles to win the Bigs Backyard Ultra, breaking the record in the process. Harvey ran the majority of the race in a Gravity, saving his Distances for the last lap of the "last man standing" competition.
3) At the Running Event in Austin, Newton gave a sneak preview of the Carbon racing shoe, set to launch in April 2024. Newton's Action/Reaction technology paired with a full length carbon plate and Pebax midsole is the recipe for race day magic.
4) Newton athlete Becca Pizzi ran her 100th marathon, managing to run one in every state. And for her encore? She raced the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii.
5) Newton had it's first ever shoe grant program. On Global Running Day in June, people were able to nominate their favorite non profit to receive 25 pairs of shoes. Seven organizations received a shoe grant, including Run3rd Alliance in Arizona and a Precious Child in Colorado.
6) Newton was the proud footwear sponsor of the Colorado Race Series, Without Limits. The race series included off road triathlons, swim-run races, and sprint, Olympic and long distance road triathlons.
7) Newton and J.Crew collaborated for the second year on a Special Edition Gravity. The Limited Edition shoe was created by the designers at J.Crew and produced by Newton Running.
8) Newton Running EU is back and better than ever! Newton Europe is bringing the latest and greatest models to Europe.
9) Alex Roudayna won her third Mexican National Championship with her 112 mile run in 24 hours on the island of Isla Mujeres. A month later, Alex ran solo from the Santa Monica Pier to Las Vegas. It was a 340 mile journey that she ran in 4 days and 5 hours.
10) Michael Wilson, a 19 year old with Cerebral Palsy, not only ran the Boston Marathon, he crushed it. Michael came to Newton via the Run3rd Alliance in Arizona. Run3rd is a nonprofit after school running program that gives kids from all backgrounds the tools and community needed to get started on their running path.
And that's a wrap on 2023! Thank you for the great year, we can't wait to show you the shoes and projects we have been working on for 2024!
