Newton Running Offers Natural Running Coach Certification

(Boulder, Colo.) Newton Running, the leader in Natural Running footwear, is launching a nation-wide Natural Running Coaching Certification program for coaches interested in teaching the fundamentals of Natural Running. The program gives coaches the knowledge and tools to teach and analyze natural running form as well as how to present natural running talks and clinics.

The program covers running biomechanics, gait and posture analysis, proper shoe fitting, form drills, strength and balance exercises and effective teaching techniques.

"Over the past two years we have traveled to over 50 retailers across the country offering natural running clinics for the public," states Ian Adamson, Director of Research and Education for Newton Running. "The response has been overwhelming and there is clearly a demand from runners wanting to improve their form and reduce injuries."

The certification programs are led by either Ian Adamson, a seven-time Adventure Racing World Champion who hold degrees in Sports Medicine and Biomechanical Engineering, or Danny Abshire, co-founder of Newton Running, and author of the new book, Natural Running.

To become certified, a coach must demonstrate natural running form (including Chi, Pose, Evolution or barefoot styles), submit three coaching references and pass a final written and oral exam. The three-day certification program costs $250.

Newton Running's popular Natural Running Coaching Certification programs often sell out. For a calendar of upcoming events, visit here.

What's the Buzz?

  • Just a few lines to let you know that I had a wonderful race in San Sebastian marathon (Spain) two weeks ago. I ran in 2:30 in my Newton shoes. I'm from the Basque country in Spain and everybody is asking me what shoes are these. I'm the first guy running in these shoes around here. I've done all my previous long runs wearing them and cushioning is just exceptional. I had No blisters or signs of a marathon after the race. Obviously I'm ready for a new pair for my next event. Congratulations you've got a great weapon for runners.
