Turning Medals Into Gold: Newton Running Announces Team Alchemy

Newton Running, the leader in natural-running footwear and education, is launching Team Alchemy, an elite corporate running team consisting of Newton Running employees and brand ambassadors. Team Alchemy will officially debut at Boulder, Colorado’s Pearl Street Mile race on August 11. The race begins at 7 p.m., immediately followed by a happy hour reception at the Newton Running Lab at 7:30 pm.

“Team Alchemy was designed to showcase our talented employees who are also dedicated runners and hardcore athletes,” says Jerry Lee, CEO and co-founder of Newton Running. “This local team differs from our national team of sponsored runners and triathletes in that it embodies the internal corporate culture that influences all aspects of our brand and products.”

The inaugural five-member team includes Jeremy Freed, Paul South, Kara Henry, Bob Weiner and Kenyon Neuman, who will serve as team captain. New members will be selected and added to the team’s roster on an ongoing basis. “We all love the sport and Team Alchemy allows competitive runners within and around Newton to express that passion to the greater running community,” says Neuman.

Alchemy--the mythical process by which metals are chemically turned into gold--is the Team’s unifying concept as Team Alchemy will help competitive runners of all types to reach new heights at races ranging from one mile to 50 miles and beyond. Through competing at both short and long distances on road, trail and track, Alchemy athletes will demonstrate the versatility of Newton Running shoes.

Also launching on August 11, www.teamalchemy.com, will be the online hub for the team’s news, calendar of upcoming races and race reports.

What's the Buzz?

  • Just a few lines to let you know that I had a wonderful race in San Sebastian marathon (Spain) two weeks ago. I ran in 2:30 in my Newton shoes. I'm from the Basque country in Spain and everybody is asking me what shoes are these. I'm the first guy running in these shoes around here. I've done all my previous long runs wearing them and cushioning is just exceptional. I had No blisters or signs of a marathon after the race. Obviously I'm ready for a new pair for my next event. Congratulations you've got a great weapon for runners.
