Michellie Jones is considered the sport of triathlon's most decorated athlete. With over 160 career victories in triathlons of every distance, she has been a force to be reckoned with in the sport of triathlon for almost 20 years. Among her many successes, Michellie competed in the 2000 Summer Olympics in her home town of Sydney, Australia where she captured the SILVER Medal.
Michellie then decided to use that incredible speed and have a go at longer distance events. In her first ever Ironman 70.3 event in Oceanside, CA she used her short course speed to take the title.
Once moving up to Ironman distance racing, Michellie found immediate success. In her first ever Ironman race at the 2004 Ironman Florida event she was the Champion. Michellie's most prominent success is becoming the first Australian women to win a World Ironman Championship with her victory in the 2006 Ironman Triathlon in Kona, Hawaii. Her victory makes her the second Australian in history to win this prestigious event - behind 1994 Men's World Champion, Greg Welch.
Michellie currently resides in Carlsbad, CA. Visit Michellie's website at www.gomichellie.com.
